pussy riot (not what you think)

can we please discuss how annoying it is to watch female comedians mock themselves or other women in order to be funny? like, we all know that the guys have the fart and the sex and the poop jokes in their repertoire, but why oh god whhhy do the gals always have to resort to the ugly and slutty and dumb girl jokes to be funny or to be coonsidered *funny* by the wider public? i mean, there are some hilllllarious female writers, actors and comediennes doing the rounds these days, that it should hardly be surprising that there are more funny things to talk about than housework and periods and how fun it is to be a stay-at-home-mum.

we are smart and witty and clever and powerful and feminine and whimsical and fickle and thoughtful and FUNNY people! look at ladies like tina fey and amy poehler of (original) snl and 30 rock fame (lets not forget mean girls too ladies), or zooey d of all kinds of indie but more recently new girl fame - where she is basically playing her very quirky self anyway, or kat dennings and beth behrs and their incredibly funny writer whitney cummings of 2 broke girls. and the bradshaw! EMMA STONE! who is gorgeous but makes some of the most hilarious facial expressions i have ever seen, and is incredibly funny. and, let's not forget everybody's friends rachel, monica and phoebe! funny! some on their own back, some on the backs of their female writers. equally, a lot of these wouldn't be funny if not for them being female and not male.

so, ladies, empower yourselves and be funny because you are. don't play up the role of the ditz, or make fun or yourself, or let anyone do it to you either. be like my lady idols and wear flowers and glitter and pull faces and wear make up and be girly and do it all with your head held high - or at least, thrown back in fits of laughter.
