hello. my name is erica, and i have an addiction: pretty dresses. although i'm sure this is not news to many of you, you will be shocked to learn that my love of pretty frocks has quickly moved from that of cheap and poorly-made dresses, to higher priced and made from excellent quality dresses. namely those made and sold by british retailer sugarhill boutique.
one look at their website will explain this new obsession no doubt; feminine, flirty, and fun - so me! while a closer look at their ~sale section will solidify what's become a bit of a problem for my bank balance (read: credit card) of late: really, excellent, discounts. recently, when a ~further 25% off sale discount landed in my inbox, i knew i would be powerless to stop myself having another look, just to... ~see if there was anything new that i liked.
was there ever.
dress : sugarhill boutique | necklace : finest imaginary (i think, it's well old)
originally retailing at £55, i bought the lovebird print fit-and-flare dress for less than half of the original price, thanks to that particular discount code. at £25 it's still more than what i would normally pay for a simple dress, but as i mentioned earlier in the week, i am now trying to build up a bit more of a 'solid colour' wardrobe to show off lady d a bit easier; knowing also how great the quality of the sugarhill dresses are (what with this being my... fifth in as many months), i already knew the dress would fit, be flattering, and be really, really, fun on.
and i wasn't wrong. the dress arrived as i was leaving for leeds, so i wasn't able to try it on until i got back last weekend. then, wanting to save its first outing for something a bit more special than just another old monday, i decided to keep her under wraps until the weekend just gone - betty's tea party was where i debuted this emerald number, and my goooodness, the compliments i got.
boots c/o asos
paired with my suedette booties (v. dusty) and my laser-cut tea cup pendant, i wore pink nails and pink lips to match the love birds' loving hearts, and basically flounced all around london for the afternoon. there's nothing quite like a great fitting and fabulous looking dress to pop a bit of sass into your day, and what a perfect dress to wear to a tea party, eh!
i don't wear a lot of green - in fact, i think it's safe to say this is the first really, truly green dress that i have bought in years. i have a couple of minty ones, but emerald green is a colour i tend to steer clear of. but, when a dress is this vibrant and pretty though, i really couldn't have left it online, right?
