recipe :: spaghetti bolognese

a.k.a the one where i try and disguise mince meat. a.k.a. the worst meal of the month. a.k.a the night i eat half a stick of garlic bread and then crumpets to fill up in an hour. yeah. the one i make for boyfriend to prove i am a nice person. because, in case you're not up to speed: i hate mince. and no, it has nothing to do with horses. i doubt i would even be bothered if i found out there was horse dna in my mince, because.. mince meat is already unrecognisable. the amount of unknown dna in it makes my skin crawl. horse might me a nice change. (apologies to any vegos out there or those offended by the horse meat scandal). 
as mentioned, once a month i make spaghetti bolognese for boyfriend, because it's his favourite meal. it's my absolute worst. the week before pay day are the days we scrimp somewhat on food quality, so i allow him a hearty meal  to keep him warm (he in turn keeps me warm you see, all selfish moves). i know bolognese is not rocket science, but as i make it from scratch, i thought it might be nice to share with you.

what you'll need:
lean mince meat
tinned tomatoes
tomato paste
long pasta
2 cloves garlic
spring/red onion
1 red chilli
button mushrooms
salt + pepper
fresh/dried basil/oregano/green stuff
flour (any kind)
parmesan cheese + garlic bread to serve

how you'll do it:
1. put pasta on to boil 2.chop chilli, onion and garlic and throw in a hot pan with plenty olive oil 3. once cooked off, throw in chopped mushrooms until they've turned brown 4. throw in the horse meat and break it all up/hide it amongst the mushrooms 5. once all browned off, season with s+p 6. open tomatoes and pour through 7. combine a tin or tube of paste with the horrendous mix, to bind the meat to the sauce 8. after five minutes, sprinkle some flour over the top to soak up the remaining meat juice and mix again 9. once pasta is cooked, drain off and serve 10. cover with copius amounts of cheese and side serving of garlic bread to confuse your stomach that something yum is on its way down.
there you have it! is there something you hate cooking but do anyway? uuuurgh...etc.
